  • Lancaster County KOA Holiday (Narvon) — northeast of the city, a dependable full-hookup option if the closer parks are booked on a holiday weekend.
  • Pinch Pond Family Campground — over near Manheim, a good base if you’re splitting time between Lancaster and Hersheypark.

Spring in Lancaster County can swing from chilly to gorgeous; April and May days along the Conestoga are perfect for the trails but nights still drop, so the RV’s heat is worth having. June through August gets humid and warm, and the Central Park pool and the shaded riverside paths are where everyone heads in the afternoon. October is my favorite — crisp air, the foliage along the park’s wooded trails turns, and the campgrounds are calmer once the summer rush thins out. Winter is quiet; many area campgrounds close or run limited, so call ahead off-season.

Make it a full Pennsylvania Dutch Country trip

Central Park is a great anchor, but the reason people love basing an RV here is everything else within a short drive. From the campgrounds along US-30 you’ve got Amish Country and Bird-in-Hand, the Strasburg Rail Road, Sight & Sound Theatres, Dutch Wonderland for the kids, and Lancaster’s Central Market downtown. Push a little farther and you can hit Chickies Rock County Park over by Columbia for the river overlook, Susquehannock State Park to the south, or Hersheypark about 40 minutes northwest via PA-283.
